In order to commemorate Chairman Mao Zedong’s 120 birthday, the exhibition area of Mao Zedong’s life in Shaoshan Mao Zedong Memorial (SMM) was scheduled to be closed for transformation on October 8 this year and should be opened to the public on December 26, 2013 in the conference spirit of Hunan Provincial Committee on August 24, 2012. Exhibition area of Mao Zedong’s life in Shaoshan Mao Zedong Memorial was built in 1964, has received nearly 70 million visitors over the past 48 years, playing important parts for the public understanding the lifetime, contribution and personal charisma of Mao Zedong. The exhibition area of Mao Zedong’ life transformed covers an area of over 5000m2, launching basic exhibition of Mao Zedong in China.
