The “Red Detachment of Women Commemorative Garden” is a cultural scenic spot constructed in commemoration of the Woman Red Detachment of the second independent division of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army. Located at the entrance of Guantang, Qionghai, of Hainan East Expressway, the Garden covers an area of 200mu and enjoys a fabulous location and convenient traffic. The Garden is mainly composed of scenic area in front of the garden, theme sculpture exhibition hall, tropical garden scenic area and tourism service area. There are Peace Square, Memorial Square, memorial hall, detachment of women, dancing square, coconut forest village---Former Residence of Nan Batian (Nan Mansion), making the garden a large cultural tourism area integrating tourism appreciation and traditional education. The Garden was opened to the public on May 1, 2000 and was honored as the “National Demonstration Base for Patriotism Education” on June 11, 2001. With beautiful scenery and pleasant environment, the Garden presents wars and eulogizes peace, deeply prompting the theme of the Garden---commemorating revolutionary wars and praising peaceful liberation. Standing in front of sculptures of detachment of women and the “Evergreen tree”, the glorious images of the veterans of the detachment of women fighting bravely seem to appear.
