The Eighth Route Army Headquarters Memorial in Matian locates at the southwest of Shangmatian Village of Matian town, 45 kilometers south to Zuoquan County. From November 7, 1940 to August 15, 1945, Peng Dehuai, Commander in Chief, set the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army at Shangmatain Village and commanded the whole Anti-Japanese War in north China . Zhu De, Zuo Quan, Liu Bocheng, Deng Xiaoping, Xu Xiangqian, Nie Rongzhen, Yang Shangkun, Lo Rui-ching and other revolutionists lived here for a long time, and Liu shaoqi and Chen Yi came here for a short-stay.
